Designer Pat Sloan had the amazing idea to do a quiltalong that lasts from the Winter Solstice to the Summer Solstice (182 days and 25 blocks). I love this way to measure the seasons passing and to get excited about a new project when it’s cold out.
Pat is releasing one block a week on Wednesdays (it’s four weeks in). The blocks so far are 12″ finished, but she promised some in different sizes. The blocks come together so quickly — I haven’t spent more than 20 minutes on any block so far, so it’s not a big time commitment for what is already looking like a beautiful quilt. My four blocks are below.
Pat is using the challenge as a scrap buster, and as a fan of scrappy quilts, I embraced the idea. I’m actually using three fabric lines (to limit my palette a little), but they’ve been in my fabric collection for awhile, so I’m happy to mix and match. The fabric lines are Songbird Gathetings by Primitive Gatherings, Silver Linings by Laundry Basket Quilts, and Volume II by Sweetwater all for Moda Fabrics. I love the rich browns, reds, blues, and creams these collections provide!
Thanks for joining me for “happy hour,”
