Who’s ready for a block party? A quilt block party, that is! American Patchwork & Quilting is hosting its fourth annual quilt along and this year’s theme is Courthouse Steps.
Courthouse Steps are a variation of a Log Cabin block. Strips are added first to opposite sides, then another pair of strips is stitched to the remaining sides. This provides some fun design opportunities and a lot of fun!
There are three quilts to choose from in the quilt along. The one above (the one I’m doing) is called String Theory by Sharon Tucker. It appears in American Patchwork & Quilting‘s April 2017 issue. There is also a quilt in Quilts and More Spring 2017 from AGF Studio (below).
The third project is one I designed (yay!) and it’s a free online project on HowToSew.com.
I’m using the Christmas Glitz collection by Winthur Sempliner for Connecting Threads. If you were following with my Ugly Christmas Sweater quilt, you know this years’s Christmas quilt got finished one week before Christmas. This year, I plan to be ahead of the game!
I hope you can join the quilt along! All details + participating designers are here. I’ll be posting weekly pics of my progress on the blog and on Instagram! Plus, every Thuesday in February I’ll be on the American Patchwork & Quilting Facebook page doing a live broadcast, so you can follow me there.
Thanks for joining me for “happy hour,”
The official quilt along hashtag is #APQQuiltalong, so make sure you tag your pics so we can follow along!
