This is the seventh annual designer of the month program that Aurifil has done. It’s so fun! Each month, they interview a designer who shares a lot about their inspiration and creative process. They also share a free block pattern!
This year, the block themes are rainbow, so each designer will be making a block in a different color. I choose the Bread N Butter collection by American Jane for Moda Fabrics.
It’s so happy and bright! It’ll be so fun to pull fabrics for each block. I also got a fresh box of Aurifil in a variety of colors, so I can match my thread to my fabrics!
I’m a little late starting this project, so I caught up on the first two blocks this weekend. January’s block was a blue block from Janet Clare and February’s was a purple block from Maureen Cracknell. Instead of the cat appliqué in Janet’s block , I pieced a cute cat fabric into the block center. And because my fabric collection doesn’t have purple, I made Maureen’s block in a light blue.
Find the monthly block patterns here.
Of course, my kitty Harvey had to help with the photo shoot! He always knows when I’m trying to do something important for the blog and likes to interrupt.
I can’t wait to see what this year brings! I got my Aurifil thread ready and am seeing rainbows!
Thanks for joining me for “happy hour,”
