This is the May block in the Aurifil’s designer of the month program. This month they’re featuring Matthew Boudreaux of Mister Domestic. He does amazing woven fabric projects that are so inspiring! (So it’s no surprise that his block has a woven look.)
This year, the block themes are rainbow, so Matthew chose to make a red block. The fabric collection I’m using (the Bread N Butter collection by American Jane for Moda Fabrics) has a limited palette, so I’ve only explored blues, pinks, and reds so far. Below are my five blocks.
I have orange, yellow, and green waiting to be used, so in the upcoming months you’ll see more color variation! I loved Matthew’s block! Make sure to read these tips before you start! I think if I would’ve starched my fabrics I would’ve gotten straighter pieces.

I can’t wait to see what this year brings! I got my Aurifil thread ready and am seeing rainbows!
Thanks for joining me for “happy hour,”
