The Children’s Library Mystery Block-of-the-Month: Block 6

It’s officially garden season. We planted seeds in April and things are finally popping up and starting to bloom! Gardening is one of the biggest joys of my life and each year I look forward to planting, caring for, and seeing my plants grow and change. It’s an amazing time to slow down and appreciate nature.

I was lucky enough to grow up with a mom who loved to garden, and her yard and vegetable garden are always a treat to spend time in. (She’s probably laughing now, because I had no interest in gardening growing up.) We live in an apartment so don’t have any land to plant. We do all our plants in a small raised bed and a lot of pots.

We grow all vegetables and herbs, and I love eating fresh and canning sauces for the winter. This year, I’m even growing lavender, lemon balm, and mint to make my own tea!

I’m so excited we’re finally getting to harvest some of our vegetables! The highlight of my day is spending time in the garden and picking vegetables for dinner that night. These peppers are coming along and will be salsa soon!

I’m even drying some herbs! I picked this rosemary this morning (when the oils are at their highest) and am now hanging them in the kitchen to dry!

If you’ve been following my progress on Pat Sloan’s Mystery Block-of-the-Month through Free Quilt Patterns called The Children’s Library you know I’m using The Potting Shed collection by Holly Taylor for Moda Fabrics for my quilt. This garden-inspired collection had me so excited for the garden, so I’m excited I can finally work with this fabric AND in the dirt!

Join the block-of-the-month here!

There’s plenty of time to catch up if you’re just joining the block of the month! I’ve loved each block and enjoy sharing my progress! (I’ll make sure to update you on my garden next month, too!)
Thanks for joining me for “happy hour,”

Lindsay
