Jessie is using a bright combo of solids for her quilt (BTW, you can buy a kit here). With 4th of July right around the corner and an abundance of red, white, and blue fabrics in my stash, I decided to make a patriotic quilt.
The quilt is made mostly of Jessie’s paper-pieced Feathered Star pattern, so you can get accurate blocks and avoid Y seams. Jessie is a wealth of information and has how-to videos and great tips on her website to conquer foundation piecing successfully.
I’ve made one of the Feathered Star blocks before as part of the Smorgasblocks quiltalong (do you see it in the top middle above?). I was surprised at how easily and quickly it came together!
To stay organized, I’m using a baking tray to hold all my fabrics, foundation papers, and sewn units. I’m not a person who will sit down and finish a block in one sitting, so being organized and having all my pieces in one place is so helpful.
Hope you can join in! It’ll be so fun to see everyone’s progress and learn along the way!
Thanks for joining me for “happy hour,”
