A Birthday Project: Weeks 6 and 7

I’m 49 hexagons into my birthday quilt! As part as celebrating a year in my life, I’m making a hexagon to describe each day! (You can read more about this project here.) With the holiday, I’m playing a little catch-up, so here’s the last two weeks!

Here’s a little description of what each hexagon means (start in the middle, move to the teal hexagon and move clockwise):

Day 36: Finally caved and subscribed to the Hallmark channel, so I could watch cheesy Christmas movies!

Day 37: My first day back to work after my dislocated shoulder was tough. I had to use my non-dominant hand to do a lot of scrolling on the computer with the up and down arrows.

Day 38: So thankful for all my coworkers, who helped me cut fabric for a project, carry things at work, and were always offering a hand while I recovered!

Day 39: A crazy cat in the house left us with little sleep, but lots of cuddles later in the day.

Day 40: Our lemon tree gave us its first (and probably last) lemon. After six months of tending it, it was a nice reward!

Day 41: Went to a holiday event downtown, where the stores stay open late for some holiday shopping!

Day 42: Packed up the car and drove home to my family’s for Thanksgiving.

Here’s a little description of what each hexagon means (start in the middle, move to the trolley hexagon and move clockwise):

Day 43: Visited my Mom at her work, where they had beautiful trees and holiday decor!

Day 44: Visited the Milwaukee Public Museum with my family. They had a trolley that “transported” you back in time so you could walk through the streets of Old Milwaukee decorated for the holidays.

Day 45: Finished two books while on vacation, which felt so good!

Day 46: Finished a four-year-old quilt. Used a scrap from the quilt to make a hexagon. Read more about my Tula Pink City Sampler quilt here.

Day 47: Thanksgiving with family. I was very happy to be home!

Day 48: Had a beer tasting with my dad and uncle of the Russian River beers, which are aged in wine barrels.

Day 49: On Saturdays I tend to my house plants. It’s a relaxing ritual, especially now that it’s cold and things outside are dying.

I’ll update my hexagon progress every week or two! And I’ll be using the hashtag #lindsayhexies29 on Instagram to share pictures.

Thanks for joining me for “happy hour,”

Lindsay
