A Birthday Project: Weeks 38-40

I have less than 100 hexagons to go in this project — what a long journey! I find myself grabbing for fabrics I’ve already used before and struggling to come up with something to share on days that weren’t exciting. But as I see the hexagons coming together, I relive the memories and the fabrics and am reminded why I started this project in the first place! As part of celebrating a year in my life, I’m making a hexagon to describe each day! (You can read more about this project here.)

Here’s a little description of what each hexagon means (start in the middle with the bike hexagon, move to the green hexagon and move clockwise):

Day 260: Hot weather has me moving from morning walks to the bike in the cool basement.

Day 261: On my drive to work this morning I hit only green lights. It was the perfect start to Monday.

Day 262: Daisies finally bloomed in the yard.

Day 263: Got blindsided by something at work. Trying to make the best of a stressful situation.

Day 264: Took an afternoon off to relax and reset. (Lavender scent is a big part of that!)

Day 265: My Mom and brother came into town to visit and we spent some time in the BHG test garden and my own garden.

Day 266: Torrential rains caused flooding in our basement and neighborhood.

Here’s a little description of what each hexagon means (start in the middle with the striped hexagon, move to the chicken hexagon and move clockwise):

Day 267: After a night of bad rain, the sky was blue and the sun was shining.

Day 268: Grilled a bunch of chicken for a week’s worth of meals.

Day 269: Jumpstarted my creativity with the Choose Your Own Adventure QAL (See this project here.)

Day 270: Happy 4th Of July!

Day 271: Started re-laying stones in our backyard. The landscaping begins!

Day 272: Ate Iowa sweet corn fresh from the farm.

Day 273: Went to 80/35 music festival

Here’s a little description of what each hexagon means (start in the middle with the fruit hexagon, move to the green hexagon and move clockwise):

Day 274: I love summer fruits — are lemons, watermelon, cantaloupe and more!

Day 275: Started killing and digging up grass as part of the landscaping we’re doing.

Day 276: Our little kitty caught a cold. Lots of sleep and cuddles.

Day 277: Went our for margaritas with a friend.

Day 278: Dug up a bunch of weeds and unwanted trees in the backyard.

Day 279: Finished a very special project in honor of my favorite color of rotary cutter! (I’ll share details soon!)

Day 280: A moth population killed my zucchini plant.

I’ll update my hexagon progress every week or two! And I’ll be using the hashtag #lindsayhexies29 on Instagram to share pictures.

Thanks for joining me for “happy hour,”

Lindsay
