I have exactly two months left in my hexagon project! Hexagons have dominated my life this past year — I’m so happy I learned how to English paper piece and think I’ll continue doing it long after this project has ended. As part of celebrating a year in my life, I’m making a hexagon to describe each day! (You can read more about this project here.)
Here’s a little description of what each hexagon means (start in the middle with the yellow hexagon, move to the purple hexagon and move clockwise):
Day 281: We are finally harvested cherry tomatoes from the garden!
Day 282: Our hostas are blooming gorgeous purple flowers.
Day 283: Feeling so lucky to live in Des Moines!
Day 284: Put up new curtains in my sewing room!
Day 285: Tornados swept through the area. With the recent flooding and the wind damage, my heart is going out to all those affected in our city.
Day 286: Spending all my extra time in the garden.
Day 287: Celebrated my 1,000 Instagram post! (If you’re not following me yet, let’s connect!)
Here’s a little description of what each hexagon means (start in the middle with the ribbon hexagon, move to the tree hexagon and move clockwise):
Day 288: Found out a good friend is pregnant!
Day 289: Took a walk at lunch and saw trees already turning colors.
Day 290: Lots of stress at work and trying to approach each situation with grace.
Day 291: Caught up on a lot of projects — both machine and hand sewing!
Day 292: Snuggled with Harvey, our cat, tonight.
Day 293: Finished my nautical sewalong for the Summer Sewing video series for American Patchwork & Quilting.
Day 294: We have a cicada killer infestation (don’t Google this if you want to sleep at night).
Here’s a little description of what each hexagon means (start in the middle with the cat hexagon, move to the striped hexagon and move clockwise):
Day 295: Outdoor exploration time with our cat today.
Day 296: More Summer Sewing video series prep.
Day 297: Finished a long-term cross-stitch pattern. You can see more here.
Day 298: We aired out first episode of the Summer Sewing video series.
Day 299: Had the prettiest floral, purple drink.
Day 300: More garden time.
Day 301: Visited my in-laws in northern Iowa for Meat & Music Festival.
Here’s a little description of what each hexagon means (start in the middle with the green hexagon, move to the teal hexagon and move clockwise):
Day 302: Relaxed with the in-laws in farm country.
Day 303: Feeling refreshed and blessed after a weekend away.
Day 304: Tropical, hot day — this summer has been a scorcher!
Day 305: My job has expanded to have bigger involvement with Wood Magazine.
Day 306: After a night sitting outside with friends, Im covered in mosquito bites.
Day 307: Took the day off to relax outside on a sunny day.
Day 308: A little squirrel has started chewing on our door and deck.
I’ll update my hexagon progress every week or two! And I’ll be using the hashtag #lindsayhexies29 on Instagram to share pictures.
Thanks for joining me for “happy hour,”
