I have a confession — I have a mini charm square problem! I can’t say no to these cute little fabric packs, and I have about 20 of them in my sewing room at any one time. It’s too many, so I made a goal to use them up using fun patterns from the book Mini-Charm Quilts.
I had really good intentions, but when I came across the pattern Peppermint Lane by Anne Sutton and noticed that she used her Sugar Plum Christmas fabric line for Moda, I decided to make it exactly like hers. So instead of using mini charm packs, I used a combination of charm squares and fat eighths that I had in my stash.
It turned out so cute! I really enjoyed fussy-cutting the centers of the blocks to showcase holiday motifs. And I loved adding the appliqué details to the quilt — a snowy winter scene outside a cozy house.
I quilted it with a simple ripple and pieced the backing from leftover fabrics. I found a great stripe fabric for the binding.
I’m so excited to hang this quilt as we decorate for the holidays. The classic color palette with interesting pops of pink and brown will be a festive display in my home.
Thanks for joining me for “happy hour,”
