Sew Hometown: January Blocks

I know, I know. The month is almost over, and I should’ve shared about this amazing calendar and quilt-along  weeks ago. But I’m still playing catch-up after the holidays and finally got some sewing time this weekend.

Amy Ellis and Heather Valentine, the fun gals behind Inspiring Stitches, kindly sent me their 2019 Sew Hometown calendar and asked me to sew along with the yearlong project. The desktop calendar measures 6×10″ and includes a monthly calendar and instructions for twelve blocks designed to use your stash and build your skills! Buy the calendar here.

The calendar stands upright and fits perfectly on my cutting table. I look forward to making new blocks each month for the gorgeous sampler quilt. January’s block was a Cottage Block. I pulled fabrics from my stash and had a blast designing these houses!

I thought it would be fun to share my backyard view month-to-month with this project. Right now, we’re buried in about a foot of snow and hovering around 10 degrees. This morning as I was snowing, flurries were slowly falling and it was a beautiful scene.

It’s not too late to grab your calendar and catch up! I can’t wait to see everyone’s blocks throughout the year.

Thanks for joining me for “happy hour,”
