2019 American Patchwork & Quilting Quilt Along

You know me — I love quilt alongs! This year is American Patchwork & Quilting‘s 6th annual quilt along (I’ve participated in every one, which is very cool to say). And this year’s quilt is a great one! It’s called Sew Many Strips by designer Tara Lynn Baisden, and the pattern appears in the April 2019 issue of American Patchwork & Quilting, on newsstands now. (You can also buy the pattern online here.) Here’s a picture of the quilt.

I love how scrappy this quilt is! It will be a challenge to choose fabrics to show off both light and dark prints. And to get enough variety of fabrics to really make this quilt sparkle! (I’m not usually a super scrappy person, but I’m going to push myself a little more for this quilt.) I started by pulling fabrics I absolutely loved — especially since this is a bed-size quilt and I’ll be working on it awhile, I didn’t want any fabric that I didn’t enjoy.

I started with two fat quarter bundles that had a variety of light and dark prints. I’ve been saving my Looking Forward collection by Jen Kingwell for Moda Fabrics for a special occasion. I also grabbed the Katherine Ann collection by Patrick Lose for RJR Fabrics. Both collections had more darks and medium prints than lights, so I also pulled in a bunch of lights from my stash. I can’t wait to see how these spring colors play together in this quilt.

The quilt along officially starts on February 18, so make sure you grab the April issue before then! You can find the complete quilt along schedule and a link to the exclusive Facebook group here. I hope you join in — I’m excited to get started and can’t wait to see everyone’s progress.

Thanks for joining me for “happy hour”,

Lindsay

P.S. I’ll be sharing my progress on my Instagram account and using the hashtag #APQQuiltalong, so let’s connect there if you’re interested!
