My dear friend Beth just gave birth to the cutest little boy named Boe. I’ve never made a baby quilt before, but I couldn’t pass up the opportunity for her new family to have something handmade to celebrate these changes.
Right before the new year, I was supposed to host a baby shower and finished this quilt just in time. (A feat I’m so proud of right around the holidays.) But a bad winter storm kept the mother of honor from being able to make the trip, so the quilt is still sitting in my home waiting for the chance to meet the little guy!
I used the Hearts at Home pattern from designer Chelsi Stratton. As soon as I saw it, I knew it would be the perfect pattern for a baby quilt! (You can buy the pattern here.) I made the quilt nine blocks, which was the perfect size for the little guy to snuggle under.
I pulled a bunch of blues and grays from my stash, making sure they were softer colors. A pop of pink for the hearts made the sweetest touch. I backed it with a geometric green print, leftover from my Modern Quilt Block Sampler.
For now, I’m storing the quilt in my closet, but cant wait to share it with the new parents when I see them!
Thanks for joining me for “happy hour”,
