American Patchwork & Quilting October 2019

I usually don’t blog about each issue of the quilting magazines I work on, but I’m extra proud of the October 2019 issue of American Patchwork & Quilting!

The October issue came out August 2 and is available on newsstands until October 3. (You can check out the featured projects in the issue here, if you want a sneak peek.) It’s full of really amazing fall projects — I’m definitely planning on making the cover quilt at some point.

For this issue, I got to interview my quilting idol, Betsy Chutchian. I’ve always admired the way Betsy infuses history and a sense of community in each of her fabric lines and quilts. She designs the most beautiful fabrics (I made The Splendid Sampler quilt and a Double T block quilt from her fabrics.) I loved working with her on this interview and hope you enjoy reading about her. Check Betsy out on Instagram to see what she’s up to. She has recently be experimenting with Indigo dyeing and it’s gorgeous!

I also got the pleasure of working on an 11-page Dream Sewing Space story. If you know me, you know I’m obsessed with storage and decluttering, so this story was so fun to work on. I chatted on Facebook with our readers to understand their storage struggles and helped craft a story packed full of tips (no matter how big or small your space it).

We’re also featuring a lot of fun products that will prettify your space and help you store smart. (We’re actually doing a giveaway of the Dream Space, so enter daily to win here.) If you want to hear more about how the art director Elizabeth and I pulled this room together, we talked about it on episode 432 of American Patchwork & Quilting podcast. You can listen in here starting at 27:00.

Have you picked up the October issue yet? I’d love to know what you think of it! It’s on newsstands until October 3, 2019. There are also a limited number of copies available on this online store.

Thanks so joining me for “happy hour”,

Lindsay

  1. I loved this issue! I want to make that cover quilt too. And I’m reorganizing my sewing space, so the article is so timely. Great work. So inspiring! (I listen to the blog every week, and I like the new format.)
