A few months ago, my Instagram pal Mariana Diaz asked me to test her new pattern. After seeing her idea, I had to say yes!
The pattern is called In My Heart and is available for purchase on Mariana’s website here. It’s a throw size quilt, but comes together so easily. I honestly finished the quilt top in two days! Because you make it block-by-block, this quilt would be easy to customize in any size.
I used my collection of Olive’s Flower Market by Lella Boutique for Moda Fabrics for this quilt, and added in solids from my stash! Fun fact: I didn’t have enough of my background fabric and didn’t have solids in the brown color, so I improvised. I used fabrics from my stash and pieced them so the wrong side was facing the front. You can barely tell in the finished quilt. But here’s an example of what the back looks like!
This quilt pattern is so well written and easy to make! I’m planning on using mine as a Valentine’s Day quilt — can you believe I don’t have one yet? But it would also be a perfect baby quilt and wedding or anniversary present. It’s definitely a pattern I’ll be making again as a fast gift!
I pieced the backing from my leftover fabric. I’ve been hoarding this fabric line for years (it’s what I made my first soup bowl cozies from), and it has made an appearance in so many projects. I’m happy to use most of the fabric up in this gorgeous quilt. I even used the leftover fabrics to make a scrappy binding.
I hope you love this pattern as much as I do — I’m so excited that Mariana asked me to test it. The best part was that it gave me a deadline to finish, so I actually got a quilt done without it ending up in my UFO pile. It’s put away now until after Christmas, but then it’s ready to make its appearance again!
Thanks for joining me for “happy hour”,
